Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona is an alternate airport that often is cheaper to fly into than Tucson. Be advised, however, that the distance between the cities is approximately 120 miles, a two hour drive in good conditions.

Phoenix to Tucson by car:
I-10 is the connecting interstate highway, and it is heavily traveled. I-10 is subject to closures due to accidents and dust storms (once very 2-3 months, at least) so if you choose to rent a car, bring good maps. There are alternate "back routes" along state highways (Highway 60 East from Phoenix to Florence Junction, Highway 79 south to Florence and continuing south to Oracle Junction, Highway 77 south into Tucson). There are east-west connections at various points between I-10 and Highway 79 at local highways 187, 287 and 387, but detailed maps are essential.

Driving Directions from Phoenix to Tucson:
From Sky Harbor airport, Phoenix, take I-10 EAST to Tucson. You will travel approximately 102 miles from Sky Harbor to the appropriate Tucson exit at Ina Road, which is on the far northwest corner of Tucson. If you reach downtown Tucson, you have gone TOO FAR.
Take the Ina Road exit (Exit #248) and at the end of the exit ramp, turn LEFT/EAST. Ina Road changes names as it heads east -- after you cross Oracle Road, slightly east of the intersection of Ina and North First, Ina changes names to Skyline, and then approximately 2 miles later changes names again to Sunrise.
The
Westin La Paloma is at 3800 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718 (Phone: 520-742-6000) ,a straight line 10 miles east from I-10.
